Four criteria are required for diagnosis:
1. An urge to move the legs, usually accompanied by uncomfortable dysaesthesiae.
2 The urge to move and the sensations worsen during periods of inactivity.
3 The urge to move and the sensations are partially or totally relieved by movement.
4 The urge to move and the sensations are worse in the evening or during the night.
