Clinical features


Damage to the third cranial nerve causes a ptosis and deviation of the pupil down and out. The pupil may be involved with mydriasis. Anisocoria is most prominent in the light as the the healthy contralateral pupil can constrict effectively whereas the ipsilateral pupil remains dilated.
